ANNIE LEIBOVITZ, WINDOW SHOPPING AND THE TRAFALGAR SQUARE CHRISTMAS TREE

The National Portrait Gallery is currently holding an exhibition of some of the photographic works of the world famous Annie Leibovitz...

Went to the roof top restaurant to admire the views of London from there, but then headed to a more affordable lunch at The Crypt, under St-Martin-in-the-Fields Church in Trafalgar Square...
Then off window shopping... and we did not buy anything, so we probably saved around €1.500 which we could have easily spent. Isabel fell in love with a Gucci Handbag, Miu Miu sparkling red shoes, Prada shoes, several men´s bags and a lovely coat we saw at Liberty´s. I fell in love with a Armani jumper, a National Geographic´s weekender bag, not to mention the cameras I saw there and the earth´s globe and also a Banana Republic coat which was very beautiful and very me!

Christmas Tree lit @ Trafalgar Square...

PANTO

For those who do not know, a Pantomime is a traditional musical-comedy theatrical production found in Great Britain usually performed at Christmas, with family audiences with children and parents, incorporating song, dance, buffoonery, slapstick, in-jokes, audience participation, and mild sexual innuendo. There are a number of traditional story-lines, and there is also a fairly well-defined set of performance conventions:
  • Panto story lines and scripts typically make no reference to Christmas, and are almost always based on traditional children's stories, like Aladdin, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, etc...
  • The leading male juvenile character (the "principal boy") is traditionally played by a young woman, and usually in tight-fitting male garments that make her female charms evident.
  • An older woman (the pantomime dame) is usually played by a man in drag.
  • Risqué double entendre, often innuendo out of perfectly innocent phrases. This is, in theory, over the heads of the children in the audience.
  • Audience participation, including calls of "look behind you!" and "Oh, yes it is!" or "Oh, no it isn't!" The audience is always encouraged to "Boo" the villain, and "Awwwww" the poor victims, such as the rejected dame, who usually fancies the prince.
  • A song combining a well-known tune with re-written lyrics. The audience is encouraged to sing the song; often one half of the audience is challenged to sing "their" chorus louder than the other half.
  • The animal, played by an actor in "animal skin" or animal costume. It is often a horse or cow, played by two actors in a single costume, one as the head and front legs, the other as the body and back legs.
  • The good fairy always enters from stage right and the evil villain enters from stage left.

I have seen it all tonight at Robin Hood at the Beck Theater:

DIA MUNDIAL DE LA SIDA - WORLD´S AIDS DAY

Gay Men’s Risky Sexual Behaviour Linked to Feeling Undesirable.
Gay men who are not considered sexually desirable are more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior according to new research out of the University of Toronto. They may also develop psychological problems as a consequence of feeling undesirable.
Adam Isaiah Green, Assistant Professor of Sociology at U of T, interviewed dozens of gay men in Toronto to determine what qualities made some men more sexually desirable than others, and what the consequences of being undesirable might be on mental and physical health."I found that young, white, middle-class men are considered much more sexually desirable than men who are racial minorities, over 40 and poor," says Green. "I also learned that for gay men, being considered sexually undesirable can have serious health consequences ranging from psychological issues to risky sexual behaviour."The study - among the first to examine the link between sex and mental health - found that undesirable gay men face stigmatization, avoidance and outright rejection, which can lead to depression, anxiety and alcohol abuse. It also highlighted cases whereby undesirable gay men will forego safe-sex discussion and, in some cases, condom use...
